My Partner and I have been together for 10 years today!
by ohiocowboy ini am very proud that we have been together for 10 years!
being raised a jw, it was always hard for me to find a long term relationship.
most people that i met weren't interested in anything long term, and each time one ended, it left me feeling like i would never find someone who shared the same feelings.

She's trying to make her a publisher...
by MsGrowingGirl20 insoooo, i've been sudying the bible with a 10 year old girl for two years now...her mother recently got baptised.
since i've been having doubts about the org i've centered our discussions on god and the bible and less on pleasing the org...i was doing fine.... until i invited an older pioneer sister to accompany me on the study....heeeeeeesh...she changed the topic from having manners to becoming an unbaptised publisher....she went onnnnn and onnnnn about "don't you want to please jehovah and jesus, wouldn't you like to put in a form every month and you do love jehovah and want to tell others about him, right?
" i was so upset.. i treat and love this girl as if she was my little sister and i do not want her to nose dive into this religion...she's a child for god's sake!.

Ultimately, it's the mother who is in charge of her daughter's spiritual teaching. In JW teaching, the mother now has the obligation to study with her daughter.
If she allows you to continue studying with the daughter, just make it a "fun" study. Nothing too serious. Talk about the daughter's thoughts on God and what it means to be spiritual. Look at what other religions teach. Discuss the history of the JWs. Make it as un-JW as you can, without being anti-JW, if you know what I'm saying?
The daughter might be studying just to make her Mum happy. In a couple of years, the kid might reveal that she doesn't really believe in God/give a stuff about the JWs/interested in another religion so just keep in mind that the kid can change her mind.

Gutless WTS Leadership From the "Confidentiality" Letter
by LostGeneration inthe letter leaked today on "confidentiality" had an infurating set of paragraphs on suicides, attempted suicides, and threatened suicides.
here is the excerpt.. suicides and attempted or threatened suicides.
20. at times, judicial committees may deal with someone who is so distraught that he attempts.

I am studying to become a counsellor, and I can tell you the real answer when confronted with a person who is suicidal is to call a hospital or suicide prevention centre, if your city has one.
It's called mandatory reporting. If you are counselling someone (in a professional sense) and they express a wish to harm themselves, then you are OBLIGATED to report them so they can get help IMMEDIATELY.
Someone should tell these WT idiots about this. It's called Duty of Care.

A JWN Member just lost her Husband and She could use some encouragement.
by ohiocowboy inon 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.

Passing out invites after the meeting
by 2tone inthere was an experience i had at the kingdom hall not to long ago.. my family was hosting a party or some sort.
i had to hand out a couple invites after the meeting.
they were sealed in envelopes.

Yep, I remember them cracking down on that during the 90s, could have been even earlier. I guess it was just so those not invited wouldn't be upset.
I guess these days with text messaging kids get round that silly rule.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Isn`t this so sad ?.......My neice
by smiddy ini will go back a few years during the mid 1980`s,we were living in s.e.qld and had an opportunity for our neice to stay with us for some time,a young teenager, attractive and an accomplished muscian,piano- violin.my wife and i were strong in the truth, well so we thought i was a ms and my wife was well in with the elders wives, and we went on many social activities with elders and ms servants, camping ,restuarants,etc.etc.you know the drill.our niece stayed with us at least 6 months before she went back home to victoria some 1000 miles away.previous to this ,we knew this girl since birth and we were instumental in her mother becoming a jw b4 that.so their has been a lot of history going on here.so during that 6 months she was involved with all our socializing and meeting attendance, witnessing and whatever.in short we had a lot of contact with this girl.my niece kept in contact with her mother often leaving the kids while she went off doing her own thing, shopping socializing or whatever.. fastforward to recent events: her mother stopped associating many years ago,my wife and i stopped many more years ago,but that was never a problem with our communication with her.. about 2 years ago her mother decided she`d had enough of her husbands flings and left him,he was never a jw.
my sil happened to move to a house about half a dozen houses from her daughter, she came once and said something like familys should stick together when things get tough, gave her a memorial invitation, but wouldn`t come inside the house, she was too busy, then left.
she hasn`t been back since and that was something like 2 years ago.she used to leave her 2 boys with my sil while she did her errands, her boys 13 & 11 ?

I was bullied in high school.
One girl wrote to me several years later, apologising for the way I was treated and even admitted to starting false rumours about me so she's be better accepted by the girls that were bullying me.
Another girl from the same group also apologised in person.
